NUS Enterprise’s revitalised i³ Building at 21 Heng Mui Keng Terrace is more than just infrastructure — it’s a purpose-built innovation hub, designed to house start-ups, researchers, incubation labs, and shared workspaces that power entrepreneurship and deep-tech ventures. Its open event zones, flexible layouts, and architectural curves reflect the ambition to foster creative collisions and bold ideas.

In this dynamic ecosystem, acoustic performance is non-negotiable. Conversations, brainstorming sessions, and quiet focus must coexist seamlessly — especially when spaces are shared, hybrid, or multi-purpose.

Versatility Across Shared Spaces, Event Zones, and Private Offices

One of the biggest design challenges in i³ was accommodating varying spatial needs — from open co-working to event forums to enclosed offices. Our glass systems were applied flexibly:

• Shared Workspaces / Hot-desking Areas: Low-height or transparent double-glazed partitions preserve daylight, spatial continuity, and visual connectivity while offering acoustic zones for focused work.

• Discussion / Event Zones / Pod Spaces: Use of the ArcGlaze along with high-performance double glazing to define zone boundaries — acoustic separation with expressive form.

• Private Offices / Executive Suites: Full-height double-glazed acoustic walls, matched finishings and consistent framing vocabulary, so even the enclosed spaces feel integrated with the broader environment.

Seamless Acoustic Privacy with T1 Glass Partition Systems

We deployed T1 Glass acoustic partition systems, including our double-glazed partition variants, to meet stringent acoustic privacy demands without compromising visual openness.

• The double-glazed design significantly reduces noise transfer, letting enclosed rooms, meeting pods, and discussion zones operate without disturbing adjacent workspaces.

• The framing, sightlines, and surface finishes are carefully matched so the partitions visually integrate with the interior palette — creating a flow, not a barrier.

In other words, the acoustic partitioning does its job quietly — you see the light, the view, the continuity — and hear the difference only when you step inside.

Introducing the T1 Glass Arc Partition

We didn’t limit ourselves to straight walls. For the first time in a T1 Glass project, we introduced a gently curved Arc Partition — a bespoke architectural glass arc that softens transitions and draws the eye. This arc element serves as both form and function: it subtly guides movement, delineates zones without abrupt lines, and becomes a visual signature. The curvature maintains the same acoustic and structural integrity as the straight partitions — no trade-offs, just elevated design.

Outcome & Impact

With T1 Glass partition systems and the new Arc innovation,  i³ Building achieves the balance every architect dreams of: acoustic privacy without sacrificed openness, utility without sterile aesthetics, and a design signature that invites exploration.
